An Analysis of Radiographic findings of Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography

Abstract
The authors present an analysis of 30 cases of percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography which were experienced in last 2 years, from July 1978 to October 1980, at the Department of Radiology, Ewha Womans University Hospital. The result were as follows:
1. Among the 30 cases, male was 15 cases and female was 15 cases.
2. The overall successful rate of P.T.C. was 96.7% (29 cases) and among the 29 cases, P.T.C.D. was done in 1 case.
3. Distribution of diseases were 15 cases of biliary stone, 3 cases of common bile duct cancer, 2 cases of cancer of Ampulla Vater and 2 cases of pancreatic head cancer. The sum of four main diseases was 75.8% of all cases.
4. The radiographic findings of P.T.C. were analysed and concluded that the detail observation of morphologic change is very important to differentiation in various hepatobiliary disease.
5. Diameter of common bile duct was dilated at obstructive cases, and non-obstructive cases showed no dilatation of CBD except for choledochal cysts.
6. Major complication, such as 2 cases of bile peritonitis and 1 case of bleeding, were occurred in 10% of all P.T.C. cases.
